Abstract The article describes a new gamma spectroscopy system which has been proved to be able to operate up to a 300 000 MeV/s energy rate [Ge(Li) detector, 60 Co source]. The processor does not include any baseline restoration circuit, and uses a special optoelectronic charge compensation technique.
