Abstract
The Front Cover shows an alumina-overcoated Ni/Al2O3 catalyst undergoing disintegration during dry methane reforming due to carbon buildup under the overcoat. The overcoated catalyst produces more than twice the carbon quantity than the uncoated one yet shows an impressive increase in DRM activity as the temperature is ramped. In their Full Paper, S. Afzal et al. reveal with their further investigation three remarkable phenomena which may be associated: (a) Formation of alumina nano-fibers that appear to act as secondary support for migrating nickel, (b) segregation of carbon as carbon nano-onion (CNO)-like structures, (c) fracturing of the overcoat exposing new active sites for sustained reaction.
