Abstract
The media are an important element of the modern information space, providing instant access to a wide variety of data. Another escalation of the Palestinian problem (the conflict in the Gaza Strip) in October 2023 was immediately reflected in the news. Numerous demonstrations soon began to be held in support of the Palestinians, where the inscription “From the river to the sea Palestine will be free” could be seen on posters and banners. This phrase was picked up by various information publications and caused a wave of discussions that combined both criticism and a definition of its meaning. The purpose of this article is to study the history of the slogan “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” and its political aspect based on foreign media. The article concluded that the slogan “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” has more than half a century of history and its emergence was due to specific events (UN Plan for the Partition of Palestine of 1947, Nakba, Six-Day War of 1967). Attention was also paid to the issues of perception of this phrase and its conceptual content.
