Abstract
The article, based on the analysis of theory and practice, characterizes the peculiarities of the formation of social leadership among young people by means of volunteering.Modern society needs proactive individuals who possess organizational and communicative qualities, a humanistic orientation, and readiness for partner-based, personally-oriented interaction with students. A new type of personality of a specialist: sociable, active, proactive, persistent, energetic, observant, independent – necessary for leading a group of students and parents. In this regard higher education should create the most favorable conditions for nurturing leadership qualities in student youth.Numerous studies of public opinion confirm that social leadership is necessary for modern society, because the social leader acts as a key figure in the process of making particularly important decisions in the social sphere, as well as in the system of social management.The author found out that volunteer activity has a significant potential in the formation of social leadership of student youth – a voluntary, socially oriented, non-profit activity carried out by volunteers through the provision of volunteer assistance.The formation of a social leader in the youth environment at the current stage of development of society, a democratic country is an urgent interdisciplinary task of education and social policy of the state. The identified vital arguments determine the need to find and implement new approaches to the implementation of the task, in particular by means of volunteer activities, are the subject of further research. Reasoned organizational conditions for the formation of social leadership among student youth by means of volunteer activities can be used in the activities of student social and psychological services, youth centers, and other educational and social youth structures.
