Abstract
The method of harmonic analysis has been used to study the patterns of air and permafrost temperature changes across time for the city of Yakutsk spanning the previous 200 years of observation. The analysis revealed three harmonic functions which describe this temperature trend in a generalized form. These functions were used to develop the formula for calculating the temperature variation over time, and to predict the changes of climate and of the permafrost thickness in Central Yakutia into the year 2200.
