Abstract

The presented article contains the results of a study devoted to the analysis of the current state of the banking sector in Africa. Based on a comparative analysis and generalization of theoretical concepts in the field of banking, the current directions for further development of the banking services segment in the countries under consideration were identified. It is shown that the most powerful influence on the development of the banking market of the group of countries under consideration was influenced by such factors as the presence of foreign banking capital, the uneven distribution of financial capital among various groups of the population and enterprises, the presence of a colonial past in the evolution of the financial systems of these countries.
