Abstract

The effects of the m.m.f. space harmonics on the performance of 3-phase and 2-phase induction machines is discussed using the extension of the unified theory of electrical machines. The phase-variable harmonic equations are transformed into various harmonic component equations (α, β,d,q,f,b etc.), the method is applicable for steady state or transient analysis. As a direct application of the transformational technique presented, symmetrical component impedances incoporating the effects of space harmonics are also derived for both the three-phase and two-phase machine.
