Abstract

This article describes a study that examined the development of expository writing in children and adolescents, using a task that could easily be administered by the speech-language pathologist to students in their classrooms at school. The task is presented and methods for analyzing and interpreting the results using a computer program are described. Excerpts from essays that were written by children and adolescents with typical development are discussed.
