Abstract
Radiological examinations are carried out in various departments of a hospital along with the radiology department. This involves the involvement of nurses also during the radiological procedures. Therefore, there is a high probability of radiation exposure to the nurses as well. This study aimed to understand the awareness and practice of radiological protection among nurses in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during imaging examinations. A cross-sectional study was conducted in which data were simultaneously gathered from three Emirates of theUAE (Dubai, Sharjah and Ras al-Khaimah) from both government and private hospitals. It is crucial to identify the best interventions to address the radiation knowledge and practice gap among nurses and healthcare organisations should take initiative for the same. Continuing professional development or a certified program must be a mandatory requirement for all nurses who are involved in radiological procedures.
