Abstract

Carbon nanotubes have been the focus of considerable research due to the excellent mechanical, electrical and magnetic properties. In the present work, multi walled carbon nanotubes (MWNT’s) are considered as filler material for proposed volume based quantity (0%, 1%, 3%, 5% & 7%) and for three different orientations of glass mat (00/900, 00/450 & 00/1350). The effect on the mechanical properties such as hardness, tensile and flexural strength was studied. It was found that the mechanical properties of these nanocomposites were significantly improved by incorporating the percentage of MWNT’s compared to the neat nanocomposites. The experimental results are compared with statistical results.
