Abstract

Objective To observe the effect of early nursing intervention ( ENT ) on formation of deep veinthrombosis ( DVT ) in diabetic patients undergoing surgery for hip fracture. Methods 93 diabetic patients with hip fracture who had been hospitalized during the period of From July 2008 to November 201 1 were randomly assigned to early nursing intervention group ( 48 patients,ENT group ) or routine nursing intervention group ( 43 patients,RNT group ).ENT group received nursing intervention from the first day of admission, while RNT group received nursing intervention only after surgery. The incidence rate of DVT was compared between the two groups after surgery. Results The rate of DVT was 6.2% in ENT group and 26.7% in RNT group, with a statistical difference ( P< 0.01 ).Conclusions Early nursing intervention can effectively reduce the formation of deep vein thrombosis in diabetic patients undergoing surgery for hip fracture. It is of significance for reducing postoperative complications and promoting early recovery in patients.
