Abstract

Complete dentures loose its stability and retention due to the tomographic changes of the soft tissues and the residual alveolar ridges supporting the prosthesis. In such cases, tissue conditioners or resilient liners are the best treatment options to restore the health of oral mucosa and also to permit the use of denture and therefore there is a need to increase the longevity of these temporary liners and also provide surface smoothness to avoid irritation in the tissues. This can be achieved by the application of a layer of sealant over the surface of soft liners. Henceforth by evaluating the effects of two different surface coating materials viz Monopoly and Permaseal on the softness and the surface integrity of the two tissue conditioners, the tissue conditioners without a coat of sealants loses the quality of the softness in relation to time interval.
