Abstract

ABSTRACTMethicillin-resistant Staphylococcus pseudintermedius (MRSP) is a globally emergent multidrug-resistant pathogen of dogs associated with nosocomial transmission in dogs and with potential zoonotic impacts. Here, we report the draft whole-genome sequences of 12 hospital-associated MRSP strains and their resistance genotypes and phenotypes.

Highlights

  • Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus pseudintermedius (MRSP) is a globally emergent multidrug-resistant pathogen of dogs associated with nosocomial transmission in dogs and with potential zoonotic impacts

  • Genome Announcement was performed using the Staphylococcus pseudintermedius MLST database, as described previously [25]. All of these strains displayed multidrug resistance when MICs were measured according to current Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) protocols [26]

  • All strains contained staphylococcal cassette chromosome mec elements (SCCmec), as identified by ResFinder version 3.0. These genome sequences will aid in the development of improved molecular diagnostics and subtyping methods for epidemiological source tracing of MRSP outbreaks
