Abstract

The fission yields of 238U and 232Th in the mass region A=73−81 were radiochemically determined for 5 mass chains. The absolute activities for these nuclides were determined by gross beta counting and the cumulative fission yields were measured relative to 99Mo. These data were utilized to define the slope of the left wing in the light peak of the mass yield curves for 238U and 232Th. A comparison of these fission yields was made with corresponding mirror points, assuming 3·5 and 4·5 secondary neutrons emitted per fission of 238U and 232Th respectively.
