Abstract

A laboratory column has been developed wherein the froth zone is isolated from the collection zone by modification of the upper part of the column. This allows direct measurement of both the recovery in the collection zone and the froth drop back. Pure silica has been floated to simplify the observations. Dependence of the froth drop back on froth height, gas rate, frother dosage, collector dosage, and solids flux to the froth zone is investigated. Observations of bubble size changes around the interface are also conducted.
