Abstract

A laboratory column has been developed wherein the froth zone is isolated from the collection zone by modification of the upper part of the column. This allows direct measurement of both the recovery in the collection zone and the froth drop back. Pure silica has been floated to simplify the observations. The collection zone performance as a function of particle size and feed solids has been measured. Dependence of the froth drop back on solids particle size, froth height, bias velocity, and solids flux to the froth zone is investigated.
