Abstract
A novel method for dim target detection based on generalized S transform (GST) of image signal is first proposed in this paper. The energy feature of high frequency components in horizontal and vertical direction can be obtained in the GST domain. Then the energy feature images are classified by an adaptive threshold separately. After the logical And-Operation of the classified images, the detection of dim target in low signal-noise-ratio (SNR) images can be realized. The simulation results show that the proposed method can detect dim targets in low SNR images effectively with reduced computation of GST and better detection performance compared with conventional method.
