Abstract
This article discusses the concept of "spelling skills", defines the goals in teaching pupils spelling skills. The author of the article presents exercises for the development of spelling skills when studying the "Complex Words" topic. It is concluded that the development of spelling skills is a time-consuming process that requires a systematic approach from the teacher. In particular, it is necessary to use exercises, the forms and techniques of which should vary so that classes spark interest in children and lead to successful comprehension of spelling skills.
