Abstract

This research is about the use of information systems in public administration, specifically in the Department of Social Services, where the software GESUAS was developed to assist in their management. To reach the proposed objectives, the program developer and staff of the Department of Social Service in Vicosa, in Minas Gerais state, were interviewed. The collected data was treated via content analysis. After the interviews, analytical categories were created to study the impact of GESUAS on that organization. It was noted that the use of the system has positive implications in the organizational, as well as in the technological and human aspects. Based on these findings, it is possible to note the importance of using technology and information systems in organizations, although the results obtained here cannot be generalized to other cases.
