Abstract

An analysis is made of the results of water temperature measurements in Baikal for the period 1972–2007. An anomalous warming in that period was accompanied by a gradual rise in temperature of the upper 300-meter layer, but it had no effect on the state of the waters in the deep zone. Its temperature fluctuations during 1972–1992 were due mainly to changes in dynamical effects of the atmosphere on the water layer which caused interannual variations in activity of the deep-water convection.
