Abstract
This is an attempt of theoretical reconstruction of the prominent Russian private law scholar D.M. Genkin’s concept of absolute subjective right. The context and ramifications of this very peculiar concept have been analysed. The concept triggered a lively discussion and was considered to be of a mixed blessing within the Russian private law doctrine. Nevertheless, as demonstrated in the piece, it was quite plausible, when appeared, and remains of some relevance today.
