Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out and suggest students' satisfaction, English ability, and improvement points through the case of English presentation competition held by D University of Chungcheongnam-do. For this purpose, an online survey was conducted for students who participated in the English presentation competition conducted by D University, and 62 students participated. As a result of this study, among the six core competencies of D University, self-direction competency was found to be the highest, and professional knowledge competency showed the lowest satisfaction. Through the English presentation competition, participants responded positively to the improvement of their English proficiency, but responded somewhat negatively to the improvement of their English speaking confidence. In addition, the students who participated in the competition heard that their English speaking skills improved and the collaboration with the team members was satisfactory. Based on the results of this study, suggestions for holding and operating an effective English presentation contest were presented.
