Abstract

Abstract Control of aphids on garden rose was evaluated by selecting 32 rose plants growing in 2 gal pots with similar infestation levels. The plants were grown in a shade-house under standard nursery production conditions. Treatments were randomly applied with four single plant replicates per treatment. Plants were sprayed until drip using a 1 qt capacity hand held Polysprayer. Temperature at the time of treatment was 22°C and the relative humidity was 50%. Prior to spraying (0 DAT) and at 2, 4, and 8 DAT, one, 5 cm long growing tip was randomly selected from each plant and the total no. of live aphids recorded. Aphids that were shriveled, distorted, and lacked movement were considered dead.
