Abstract
Abstract Aphid control was evaluated by selecting 32 infested crabapple trees, 1.8 m tall, with similar infestation levels growing in 5 gal pots under standard nursery production conditions. Treatments were randomly applied with four single plant replicates per treatment. Tempo 2 E served as the standard. Plants were sprayed until drip using a one qt capacity hand-held Polysprayer. Temperature at time of application was 21°C and wind velocity was less than 5 mph. Prior to spraying (0 DAT) and at 2, 4, and 8 DAT, one, 5 cm long growing tip was randomly selected from each plant and the total no. of live aphids recorded. Aphids that were shriveled, distorted, and lacked movement were considered dead.
