Abstract
Abstract Eastern tent caterpillar (ETC) control was evaluated by selecting 40 crabapple trees with similar infestation levels. Treatments were randomly assigned with 4 single tree replications/treatment. Trees were sprayed until drip using a Meyer’s tractor mounted, PTO driven sprayer at 100 psi and a Meyer’s hand spray gun. Temperature at the time of application was 15°C and wind velocity was approximately 10 mph. Prior to spraying (0 DAT), and at 2, 4, 8, and 16 DAT, each tree for each treatment was visually examined and the percent defoliation was determined based on 2 independent estimates to the nearest 5%. ETC larvae were approximately Ms grown at the time of application.
