Abstract

Abstract This test consisted of evaluating Sumithion 8E at 4 lb ai/100 gal for phytotoxicity on 28 species of ornamentals in 3 different tests near or in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Application equipment consisted of a John Bean 55, series L-1565-2 and a 785 John Bean Spraymaster deluxe gun which delivered 3 gal/min of finish spray at 300 psi. All plants were treated to runoff. Twelve species were grown in containers and 4 species were permanent plants. Sumithion was applied to 4 single plant replicates and treated plants were compared to a check. Temperature at time of treatment was 80-85°F. Test 2 was treated on July 6 to established permanent plantings. Sumithion was applied to 2 single plant replicates including a check. Temperature at time of treatment was 90°F. Test 3 was treated on June 6 to established permanent plantings. Sumithion was applied to single plants including a check.
