Abstract

Abstract Burley tobacco ‘Va 509’ was transplanted on June 14. Insecticides were applied in transplant water at the rate of 500 gallon total solution per acre. Plots were 200 ft long, 2 rows wide, arranged in 3 randomized complete blocks. Rows were spaced 40 inches apart; plants were spaced 14 inches within rows. Flea beetle damage was evaluated as feeding holes per leaf. Counts were made on the fifth leaf of width greater than 2 inches from the top of the plant. Counts in the data table are averages of 90-leaf counts made on July 10, 24, and 31.
