Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of placement of nasolacrimal stent in the treatment of nasolacrimal duct obstruction. Methods Sixty-two cases (73 eyes) of nasolacrimal duct obstruction underwent the retrograde nasolacrimal duct stent implantation, analyze the success rate of surgery, efficacy and complications of the postoperative periods. Results Stenting implantation was technically successful in 73 eyes.Three months postoperatively, the success rate was 98.6%.Six months postoperatively, the success rate was 95.9%.After stents were removed, the success rate was 98.6%.Three months after stents were removed, the success rate was 98.6%.Six months after stents were removed, the success rate was 93.2%.All stents were successfully removed. The intra-and post-operative complications included transient hemorrhage and obstruction of the stent. Conclusions The modified nasolacrimal duct stenting implantation suggests that the surgery success rate is higher and the complication is lower and the treatment in short and medium term is effective, complication is less.
