Methods Forty-five cases with chronic dacryocystitis randomized separately endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (23 cases) and nasolacrimal stent (22 cases) according to hospital admission, compared to observe the curative effect of two kinds of surgery by postoperative follow-up. Results Followed up for 1 month: endoscopic dacryo-cystorhinostomy cured 21 cases, cure rate was 91.3%; Nasolacrimal stent treated 20 cases, cure rate was 90.9%; 6 months: 20 patients with endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy cured, the cure rate was 86.9%; Nasolacrimal stent 12 cases were cured, the cure rate was 54.5%. Differences between the two groups had no statistical significance in the first month (χ2=0.227, P >0.05). Differences in 6 months had statistically significant (χ2=4.28; P <0.05). Conclusions Endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy and nasolacrimal stent have the same effect in the first month; In the sixth month, the curative effect of endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy is superior to the Nasolacrimal stent. Key words: Endoscopy; Endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy; Nasolacrimal duct stent; Chronic dacryocystitis
