Abstract
Objective To investigate a method for the treatment of early pterygium.Methods 329 cases (478 eyes) of early pterygium were treated with - 22 ℃ cryotherapy.The connective part of the pterygium body and neck was treated with 2 -5 spots and each for 60 -65 seconds.Each eye received 1-3times of treatment.Results After 6 months to 6 years of follow-up,295 eyes were very effective (61.7％),121 eyes were effective(25.3％ ).Total effective rate was 87.0％.No severe complication was found and no pterygium quick growthing appeared in any eye.Conclusion -22 ℃ cryotherapy for early pterygium is safe and effective.
