Abstract
The Ezekiel 38 and 39 consist of nine oracles reflecting Masoretic text's (MT) sense divisions: five oracles occur in chapter 38 and four in chapter 39. To date, the author has not found any modern commentator or English Bible that exactly follows these nine ancient divisions. The Ezekiel 39 explains four oracles: first oracle: The Lord tells Ezekiel what to declare to Gog about his gathering and demise, second oracle: The Lord declares Gog's burial place and the resulting 7 month cleansing of the land, third Oracle: The Lord's declaration, through Ezekiel, of his sacrifice to the birds and animals, and fourth Oracle: The Lord declares his holy name as the reason for the restoration of Israel. LXX maintains the transliteration of ?Gog' and therefore the ambiguity of Gog's identity; likewise ?Rhos' is kept as a proper noun of an ethnic group.Keywords: Bible; Ezekiel; Gog's identity; Israel; Masoretic texts (MT)
