Abstract

Bio-contaminants such as viruses, human pathogenic bacteria, antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in soil caused by unscientific waste disposal are entering natural system through human actions, causing a huge risk. To lessen the threat of bio-contaminants, it is significant to understand the fate and spread of bio-contaminants and expand efficient technologies to diminish their negative effects. This chapter summarizes the recent studies on the occurrence of bio-contaminants in soil by various agricultural practices. Various remediation methods are also discussed to reduce bio-contaminants into agricultural soils from the sources. Based on this study, this chapter also proposes the future research required for this field.
