Abstract

Nanobiotechnology is an emerging field of study in the recent era due to its ability to modify bulk compounds into smaller nanosized particles, namely nanoparticles. Nanoparticles have efficient chemical, physical, and optical characteristics. The unique nanoparticle characteristics are due to their submicroscopic size, which ranges from 1 to 100nm. Nanoparticle synthesis using physical, chemical, and biological methods has drawn immense researcher attention. However, several disadvantages of the physical and chemical techniques explain the need for nanoparticle biosynthesis. Nanoparticle biosynthesis is inexpensive and ecofriendly in nature. The application of plant extracts in nanoparticle synthesis is studied thoroughly. The synthesis greatly depends on the pH of the medium, the temperature at which the reaction occurs, and the time of the reaction. This chapter offers a brief discussion of nanoparticle synthesis using plant extracts and the application of nanoparticles in different fields.
