Abstract

This chapter introduces the prognostics and health management (PHM) technology based on digital twins. First, the framework of the technology is illustrated in combination with the existing PHM standards; then, the application of the technology in practical engineering problems is demonstrated through three typical cases in real practice. In these cases, digital twin (DT)-driven PHM has a routine procedure with four key steps, those are, understanding of physical equipment, construction of virtual equipment, determination of PHM services (Ss), and strategy of DT data synchronization. Through this procedure, PHM services such as system status monitoring, fault diagnosis, and prognostics can be realized. This chapter will illustrate in detail how to apply this procedure to satisfy different PHM requirements.
