Abstract

Toward sustainable manufacturing that promote minimizing the negative impact on the environment and energy consumption during the production process, energy-efficient assessment can quantify the manufacturing capability in the perspective of both energy consumption and productivity, so that to provide support for optimizing the operation of the manufacturing system to improve its sustainability. The emerging digital twin-driven service, combining the digital modeling and manufacturing service technology, potentially promises a data-efficient and accurate assessing performance. This chapter firstly introduces three mainstay components of the energy-efficient assessment, namely, the assessment indicators, model, and dynamics assessment approach, by which could incorporate the factor of energy efficiency into the manufacturing capability quantifying. Then, a framework of energy-efficient assessment service driven by digital twin modeling is presented. Finally, two cases are carried out to further demonstrate the performance and verify the feasibility of the presented framework.
