Abstract

There are several types of renewable energy sources, such as solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, tidal energy, and wave energy. In all of that wind energy and solar energy are ubiquitous, free available, and ecological responsive. But wind energy system may not be technically feasible at all sites because wind velocity is very random in nature and being more irregular than solar energy. So for better production of electricity solar and wind integrated systems are preferred. The hybrid system may be one of the alternatives of oil-produced energy. Renewable energy system such as wind and solar system provide a better business opportunity for public and private sector. The common drawback of wind and solar system is their random nature and they rely on the atmospheric change. On the other hand, various sizing, mathematical, and simulation model of these systems have been used in various aspects. The basic structures of component of hybrid system basically depend on the type of application. For the proper generation of electricity, it is necessary to observe the energy requirement and availability of different renewable energy system in the study area. So that based on geological and weather condition of the study area a standalone solar–wind hybrid renewable energy system is proposed for Sagar. In which solar system and wind system are main contributor and battery storage, advanced power electronics, and existing diesel generator is working as supporting elements. This case study presents, modeling, cost analysis, and life cycle analysis of solar wind hybrid renewable energy systems.
