Abstract
Solar energy is supposed to be free, affordable, inexhaustible, and clean. The distribution in terms of wavelength range is outlined. The sufficiency of solar radiation for the earth's requirement is worked out. The advantages of exploiting solar energy are brought out. The three types of fuel generation from solar energy are considered. The concept of solar refinery is introduced.
