Abstract
The numbers of neurotoxic consequences from the activated inflammatory cells in the AD brain make the point that in an effort to do well, they cause more harm. A proposed model shows the vicious cycle of events leading to additional cell death in the AD brain. Once the neurodegeneration cascade is initiated, microglial and astrocytes may play major roles directly and indirectly promoting self-sustaining neurodegeneration cycles.
