Abstract

The management of asymptomatic arachnoid cysts is still a matter of extensive debate in the pediatric neurosurgical literature. Major concerns relate to Sylvian cysts because of their relatively predominant incidence and prevalence of occasional diagnosis. Discussion is also still common for other less common locations, such as the interhemispheric fissure, for the frequent association of these cysts with other intracranial malformations, and the posterior fossa because of their potentially dangerous location and their not uncommon diagnosis in children with aspecific clinical symptoms.
