Abstract
Horticultural tree crops have improved human livelihood, playing an important role in food security. Despite their importance, different challenges are encountered during the cultivation of fruit trees among which are viral diseases. The perennial habit of tree crops makes most viral infection symptoms asymptomatic. Infections become latent and easily spread from one plant to the other. Although the use of disease-free planting material and early disease detection tests have proven to be useful, the epidemiology of viral diseases in tree crops, especially in minor important horticultural tree crops, has not been extensively studied.
