Abstract

This chapter described the regulation that defines limits and measuring methods of railway noise/vibration alongside high-speed railway line as well as stipulates the principle, method, content, and requirement of noise/vibration measurement on both sides of railway line. Noise prevention and control measures are generally taken from three aspects such as sound source, transmission path, and sound point protection. The source reduction method mainly includes setting isolation measures (including isolation fence and wall, etc.) and adopting seamless line, ballasttrack bed, sound absorbing board of track bed, rail damping material, etc. Meanwhile, noise reduction measures for transmission path include setting sound barrier or afforestation forest belt. The protection measures for sensitive points include moving sensitive points, changing (adjusting) the use function or improving the sound insulation performance of buildings, and setting sound insulation windows. Noise source control and transmission path noise reduction belong to active control technology of noise pollution prevention and control. Additionally, the railway whistle limit measures to reduce the environmental pollution of whistle noise shall be strengthened the implemented. In terms of railway vibration, control measures are put forward from three aspects, namely, vibration source, propagation path, and vibration point protection. Railway vibration pollution prevention and control can adopt laying seamless lines, strengthening the maintenance of wheel rail system, rail system vibration isolation, replacing roads with bridges, setting vibration isolation ditch, wall, and other antivibration barrier measures, and changing the use function of buildings and other effective measures. This chapter also introduced the vibration and noise reduction technology of Beijing–Shanghai high-speed railway and Chengdu–Dujiangyan fast railway and its effect.
