Abstract

Three expert stereographers from around the world talk about their experiences shooting three different kinds of 3D productions: a low-FX 3D feature film, a live 3D TV sports broadcast, and a live 3D concert recording. Celine Tricart, of Binocle in France, discusses what it was like working with a movie crew for the 2011 film Derriere les Murs (Behind the Walls), shot on location in the Auvergne and Poitou areas. Jordi Alonso, of MediaPro in Spain, details the live 3D shoot and broadcast of the 2010 RIP Curl World Cup of Surfing in Peniche, Portugal. Al Caudullo, of 3DGuy.tv in the Phillipines, recounts what he did and learned on the live 3D outdoor concert by Doc Walker in Kelowna, Canada. Each of these 3D filmmakers describes the 3D production; their experience with camera setup procedures; what their camera unit was composed of; how large their 3D crew was; their insights into stereoscopic creativity; and what they would do differently next time.
