Abstract

This chapter covers shooting for 3D editing and broadcast: setting up 3D camera unit; transporting 3D to vision mixer or recorder; directing live 3D; 3D graphics; recording 3D; editing and posting 3D; and mastering, contributing, and distributing 3D. Production processes are detailed, including beam-splitter configurations, color-coding camera units, registering and calibrating cameras, and setting depth; and formats are outlined. Tips and challenges of directing live 3D sports include interviews with experienced directors. Tools for live 3D production are explained, from switchers and stereoscopic replays to 3D conversion and tools for depth continuity. This chapter covers everything, from how to convert an OB van to 3D to various distribution channels, from network to P2P.
