Abstract
The information provided in this chapter is the basis for several hypothetical models of the causes of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Before the interest in intracellular Aβ, AD research seemed to be divided into three lines of research: those who believe Aβ was the cause of AD (Baptist), those who believe tau was the cause of the disease (Tauists), and those who believe that the vascular pathology is the root cause of AD.
