Abstract

The output characteristics of renewable energy sources are constantly changing over time. Hybrid renewable power generation systems are obtained by using more than one renewable energy source together. Thus renewable energy sources are complementary to each other. The connection topologies of hybrid renewable energy sources are given in this chapter. It is explained how power control can be done in hybrid structure with more than one source. Power analysis of a sample hybrid system consisting of solar photovoltaic (PV) panel, wind turbine, and battery energy storage unit was given and examined in detail daily and weekly. Solar PV panel and wind power output graphs are examined together and their complementary functions are explained. In addition, load balancing process was analyzed together with hybrid renewable energy sources and energy storage unit. In this chapter, real residential solar PV panel, wind turbine, and load graphs are given and explained in detail.
