Abstract

The hybrid power generation system (HPGS) was created by using offshore wind and marine current energy types together in this chapter. As an energy storage unit, a hybrid energy storage system (HESS) consisting of battery and ultracapacitor was added. Thus power generation fluctuations were tried to be removed in hybrid system. In this chapter, HPGS and HESS units are simulated in the MATLAB/Simulink interface. It also includes a smart energy management algorithm to ensure optimal control of system units. Hybrid system parameters were calculated in the MATLAB/Simulink program. The nine different working cases of the hybrid system were examined and the results were obtained in this chapter. The dynamic behavior results of the smart energy management algorithm for each case are given. Thus the simulation, design, and application of an exemplary hybrid system are given in detail in this chapter.
