Abstract

This chapter is the discrete counterpart of Chapter 3. It provides complete results on the development and mathematical treatment of control design methods for linearized discrete-time systems. It addresses several advanced techniques for plants with nominal and uncertain parameters. The focal point is to formulate the results as convex optimization over linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). This framework benefits the reader to track the methods and attempt to extend them further. Typical system applications are presented and treated in depth. In addition, the design methods are readily implementable using the LMI solvers.
