Abstract
he rare sugars have great importance due to their extraordinary properties. Unfortunately, these rare sugars are not present in nature. We need to prepare them synthetically by using different chemicals and enzymes. L-Ribose have great importance in various industries such as pharma and nutraceuticals. It can be produced by using various chemicals and enzymes, but the enzymatic production is more favorable for the downstream industries due to their high efficiency, stereoselectivity, and environmentally friendly conditions and no byproducts production. However, L-ribose is highly active physiologically, and owns many applications in the clinical and pharmaceutical fields. It is a significant intermediate in the production of several antiviral and anticancer drugs, such as L-nucleoside and L-deoxynucleoside derivatives, and has been utilized in the production of glycoconjugates and oligonucleotides to study the structure of ribonucleic acids. It also has some uses for the treatment of some diseases including, obesity, hypertension, diabetes. Overall, this study provides the key knowledge about the production, properties and applications of the L-ribose.
