Abstract
Research in basic science is the driving force for science and technology innovations and also the source for applied science and breakthroughs. In this chapter, particular focus is given to the impact that nanoscience has had on industry and applications. It analyzes the academic–corporate collaboration rate of all nano-related publications and highlights top corporate entities by scholarly output in the field. It also examines patent output and patent citations regarding nanoscience to understand how research drives the creation of intellectual property through patents.
