Chapter 1 - Scholarly output and academic impact of nanoscience

Abstract

This chapter provides an evaluation of global nano-related research output and its academic impact between 2000 and 2019. Assessment indicators include scholarly output, citation count, author count, field-weighted citation impact (FWCI), and publication output in the top 1% citations. It includes global, country-level, and institutional-level analyses of these indicators for comparison and benchmarking purposes. For institutional-level analysis, the top 20 institutions by scholarly output in nanoscience are examined in detail, including their share of nano-publications, the FWCI of those publications, and the institutions of these country.
